Hive Rules

  1. Placement

New pieces must touch at least one of your own pieces.

They cannot be placed touching an opponent’s piece directly.

  2. Queen Bee Rule

You must place your Queen Bee by your 4th turn.

No pieces may be moved until your Queen is placed.

  3. One Hive Rule

The hive must always remain a single connected group.

You cannot move a piece if it would split the hive.

  4. Freedom to Move

Sliding pieces must have physical space to move.

If both sides are blocked, you cannot slide in or out.

  5. Stacking (Beetle Only)

    Only Beetles can climb.

A Beetle on top controls the stack; covered pieces cannot move until uncovered.

  6. πŸͺ² Movement of Each Bug

Queen Bee 🐝 – Moves exactly 1 space (sliding).

Soldier Ant 🐜 – Moves to any distance around the hive, sliding freely.

Beetle πŸͺ² – Moves 1 space (like Queen) but can climb on top of other pieces.

Grasshopper πŸ¦— – Jumps in a straight line over one or more pieces, landing in the first empty space. Must jump over at least one piece.

Spider πŸ•·οΈ – Moves exactly 3 spaces, sliding around the hive. Cannot backtrack or stop early
